Lido Pimienta is an interdisciplinary artist-curator and musician. Her work explores the politics of gender, race, motherhood, identity and the construct of the Canadian/North American landscape in the Latin American Diaspora and vernacular.
Every work that I put out to the world is created with the intention of portraying or rather showing the Caribbean as Sublime not Exotic. In the most summed up version of myself, or rather in the most simple terms, I would describe myself as a Portrait Artist. I mainly paint people, I paint people that look like me and the people that made me and the people that made them. Diaspora, Motherhood, Land Back and the right to * be racially radicalized people that *do nothing* in a world of over stimuli and over-productivity is my favourite place to be. I put that vision on paper and share with whoever wants it.
